Top 100 Tracks of 2012 (#89-80)

89. Crystal Castles – Affection
CC at their best. Pre-gaming song for hipsters.

88. Right Away, Great Captain! – Blame
Song by Andy Hall, who was responsible for 2011's Song of the Year, Simple Math.

87. Fiona Apple – Werewolf
Fiona is back and her superior singer/song writer skills are showcased here.

86. Julia Holter – In the Same Room
A very odd song that teeters on the edge of being above average to amazing.

85. The Mars Volta – In Absentia
The ending of this track almost feels like The Mars Volta setting like a sun at dusk, creating the very image they chose to represent their final album.

84. alt-J – Tessellate
This song has a serious deal with it sound to it.

83. The xx – Try
How many great subtle guitar riffs are in this track, no seriously?

82. Rick Ross – Stay Schemin
Rick Ross & Drake seem to reach their pinnacle anytime they collaborate, but hey... we weren't with them shootin' in the gym, so what do we know?

81. The Shins – Simple Song
No year is complete without a classic Shins track.

80. Hop Along – No Good Al Joad
Emo music is short for 'emotion' and boy is this song full of Emo.

Top 100 Songs of 2012 (#100-#90)

100. Bear In Heaven - Sinful Nature
Creates a great atmosphere of coked out proportions. Although nothing will ever strip Destroyer's "Kaputt" for that title.

99. Ra Ra Riot - Beta Love
Great dance beat and even better bass diddies throughout the song. Recommended for anyone that likes Passion Pit.

98. Fighting With Wire – Didn't Wanna Come Back Home
Early 00's sounding track. Very catchy and easy to get into but not much more than that. Heavily inspired by Foo Fighters.

97. Bloc Party – Day Four
You know it's a good year in music when I have a Bloc Party song ranked in the 90's. Classic chill Bloc Party track.

96. Frank Ocean – Pyramids
Very refreshing track and nearly clocks in at 10'. Not only dos it have a good beat(s) but features better guitar towards the end than most 'rock' songs these days.

95. Burial – Loner
Burial is above average background music and this is the most accessible track on his latest release 'Kindred'.

93. Of Montreal – We Will Commit Wolf Murder
The bass on this track is ridiculous and a great summer track. Runs a couple minutes too long though.

92. Death Grips – Hacker
If songs received an MPAA rating this would definitely be NC-17. If you aren't in for extreme music do not listen to this track. On the flip-side, if you like things a little hardcore/explicit then this track is for you. Great track.

91. Hot Chip – Look At Where We Are
For a band that is known for releasing some of the catchiest pop songs of the last decade this definitely classifies as a ballad. They manage to add in some of their unique elements to make it catchy as hell.

90. By The Sea – Dream Waters
Just a great track that seemed to stick with me after every time I listened to it. Definitely a great song to listen to while driving by the coastline.
